Car Broken Into. Help? (pics)

Well after leaving my car at work on the meter outside to do a nice and easy 5 while 9 shift, window has been broken and my sterio fascia has been stolen (but not the stereo??:S:S or my ipod:S:Sx2)

so there you go. my baby vandalised.

im just happy its only a window and stereo. could have been alot worse i know.

i now have some questions. no point in going through the insurance for a window and a stereo so:

1) how much will i be looking to pay from the scrappy for a window?
2) are they hard to fix?
3) because only my facia was stolen, if i ring alpine and give them the crime number, can i just purchase the fascia or do i need to spend 150 quid on a new stereo?

itll cost thee 20 ish quid for a window from the scrapys...ill fit it thatll cost thee nowt...sorted.

as for the radio....im pritty sure you can get a replacement item

Get the window pane from scrappers, we'll be able to sort it tomorrow I reckon, had mine done years ago and we fixed it

When I first started driving I had the usual 1.2 Nova, Woop Woop. To hide the Sony Mini Disc headunit (top drawer in the day) I had a headunit cover that looked like air vents. The car also had 3 amps, 2 subs, a CD changer, various mids/tweeters & approximately 50 fairly current, boxed CD's dotted around the door cards, glovebox etc.

It was broken into and they stole my headunit cover that cost £1.20. Bored, Little, Pikey, Cnuts!

I don't leave anything on show in the car now unless it's branded 'Nationwide'. I think the boredom factor of that may be deterant.

Alpine will sell you a replacement fascia for a head unit, well they used to anyway. Found that out when my old car got broken into :dapprove:

Best things to do:

- Empty out the glovebox and leave it open when you park up
- Don't leave anything in the car, it's not hard for them to look under the seat etc

leaving the glove box open is a good idea. never thought of that!... well shall find out tomorrow if they will flog me anew one! getting the window sorted tomorrow i hope so should be all good!

I'm gutted for you, they are complete scum tbh.

As said, keep an eye out on ebay to see if the face plate turns up on there (without the rest of it)
It'll be no good to them unless they already have the actual stereo (they may have nicked that from someone else)

Sounds like they got rumbled whilst they were at it.

Kinda lucky.

My 205 GTi got done, but they bent the door to get in, stole the stereo, my phone holder and also foud, yes FOUND my HU remote which i hid in a glove.

Change a window aint too hard TBH, is it a manual or Elec one?

its electric windows mate. im off to josh's at 9 tomorrow and he is sorting it me out for 20 pounds which is really good. i just need to sort out my head unit problem now

Replacing the window is just like replacing a windscreen through your insurance. That means they will also clean up the mess... they did in my case anyway.

Gutted mate! I used to live in Doncaster. Hated it. Chavs & pikeys everywhere:nono: . Luckily i've got a clifford alarm, if they go near mine it gives them a warning sound. That'll keep them off from my car

i gave and fitted a top notch clarion to my sis for her 21st. she had a terrible shitty renault 5 (89') worth a ballon and a h'penny. she lived in glasgow so i sorted it with a b and q chain from head unit rear to bulk head, pad locked in place.
one morning she came out to the car to find the window smashed and every stalk broken the dash smashed and buttons pulled out. was the stereo gone... was it f**k! it was hangin by the chain.:rasp: GET IN!
the car was a state but the stereo lived on. just thought id share that.

I think it was actually the fault of the inbredded, ugly, ill educated drug addict with a gambling problem.

You may invite trouble by leaving a stereo facia on show, but it's not your fault if the car is broken into.
