Car Leasing - Insurance question - G2L

Hi,

Just been reading through the G2L T&C's and there is a part under section 6 which states your insurance policy excess can't be more than £250.

I'm finding it very hard to get a quote without an excess of more than this (many insurers seem to put a compulsory excess ontop of the voluntary).

Does it really matter if my excess is £350 (through Brentacre who I've been with for years)?

If its insured, what's the problem?

Any advice would be more than welcome.

Nope, I can't make sense of it... I'm not sure why this would be enforced.
Maybe best to speak to G2L just to clarify?

Hi Neil, I think I have sorted it now.

I wanted to stay insured with yourselves again but you couldn't get anywhere near Brentacre for some reason?!

Are you abit weary of the Fiesta STs at the moment?

Very strange. Although it does affect payout if a total loss. Ie if you're excess was £1k it would come off the settlement figure.

i never get involed with the finance side but there is lease car gap insurance for when the main payout does not cover whats owed .

Matthew, mind if I ask what the outcome was? Did they say it was ok to have any excess or?

Maybe it is something to do with restricting the age of the people taking the lease? For example under 25's usually have a larger compulsory excess added so as a result they wouldn't be able to lease this kind of car? I didn't even read that part but but luckily my excess is only £150

surely theyd just be upfront and say nobody under 25 can lease?

I have it on good authority that its not enforced.

Aslong as its insured and they have sight of the insurance certificate I don't think it really matters.

I'd imagine 75% of people don't even read the small print in the T&C's so they will be clueless about it.

I'm 28 pretty much and all the specialist (read mod friendly) insurers seem to have compulsory excesses along side the vouluntry excess.

We specialise in the highly modified cars so if your ST was standard (or lightly modded) then it probably wouldnt of met our criteria as much.

If its a commercial/company lease it can make it difficult to get a quote as thats normally restricted to company cars. If yours is a personal lease then that would be fine. Id of thought we would of still been competitive on the ST plus you can add any Mountune parts with us FOC as we are Mountunes approved insurer. Drop me a PM with your postcode and i can check the quotes for you incase it was run as a commercial lease then you will know to try us next year for a cheaper deal :)

Cheers
Neil

I can take a look at a quote for you, it doesnt matter to us if its on a personal lease or private finance.

We can also add the Mountune MP215 free of charge as we are Mountunes approved insurer.

Cheers

Matthew i brought up this subject in my emails to G2L as im looking to get the st-2 aswell and she said that the excess can be any amount as long as you can afford to pay it if anything happened to the car.
