car serice bill

  B-road bully

hi guys, jus feel like im bein mugged, took the clio down to a nationwide serivce centre, 4 hours later they tell me i have a nail in my front tire, which cant be repaired, i need a new cam belt, the discs and pads are worn, the rear drums are leaking, and its a total £700 to repair!! ive never had a problem with the car stopping or the tires! i dont kno what to do, i told them i couldnt afford this, well i can but i just dont believe this is true, only thing now is i wonder if they are goin to do that damage to the car!:(

id take it somewhere else to get another opinion

if the tyre has a nail in it take it to some where cheaper to get a new tyre

the brakes and discs you can do yourself and alot cheaper

if your not confident in doing them yourself get another garage to have a look

thats what im thinkin, they seem dodgy, breaks, and tires seemd fine before, i hate mechanics! i said i cant afford it and now they saying i cant have my car yet cos they still doin work on it!?

was wondering, if i knew they actually damaged something, could i actually do anything about it?

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4

probably not, if I were you I would get down there and get my car back off them, bet they are not even working on it

they shouldnt be doing anything to it that you havent authorised.

i would go and see if they are working on it. if not tell them you want to take it.

just got it back, cant believe two nails are in my rear offside tire heres the total bill

continenal tire (rs low pro) £114

pads £57

discs £100

rear drum cylinders £120

cambelt and tensioner £162

antifreeze and fuel filter £40

i jus pray to god i can get this stuff cheaper elsewhere.:(

Ok here what I recon ou hould be looking at paying

continenal tire (rs low pro) £80 or so for 2 front tyres.

pads £57, £17 from Halfords yours is a Mk2 1 with the 239mm disk but wont be much different in price.

discs £100, £50 from the local motor factory place or Halfords for £50 (Ive just got a set so I know there £50)

rear drum cylinders £120 drop j3ned a message for some second hand ones or your looking at £60~80 from Halfords/ other motorworld places.

cambelt and tensioner £162 Including fitting thats not a bad price but Im guessing thats not including fitment judging by there prices upto now it wont be. Its not a difficult job say 2 hrs work and the kits £50 I think. Id get a second opinion on the cambelt condition though.

antifreeze and fuel filter £40, Antifreeze for 5 liters (almost the whole system) is £20 from Renault, Halfords etc your probably looking a £15. Fuel filters try Halfords etc but your looking at £7.

They dont seem the most honest garage ever realy.
