Car Tax Dilema

Ive had to come away from mine, back to parents house due to family problem, in the mad rush of departing i did not pick up the SORN paperwork, nor the V5.

Car tax runs out on the 30th (Saturday) and I cant tax it till i get back home on the monday.

Ive contacted the DVLA about this, and i was informed that there is nothing i can do really. No MOT, No V5 with me. Have the insurance certificate though.

Cant provide me with the SORN or V5 number, so i think im stuffed and will be driving in a covert manner on sunday and monday.

I'd try and use the car as little as possible and have my full documents to retax with me in the car at all times.

Post offices are open Saturday mornings, can you not get it done then or online?

Just re read, you can't get the documents till Monday either?

think you get a few days b4 you get a fine. for situations like this.

you could have gone on hol for 2weeks like many peps this time of year etc

just do it asap

Well, im in chester, they have ANPR cameras situated about the entry to the city, so therefore sunday ill use mums car, then sneak off home sunday night up the M56.

Ive tried to contact them about this, and no solution was given. I can just explain things to the police if i get stopped, then go from there.

Can't get someone to read you the Document ref off the V5 over the phone then do it online/on the phone?

u get 14 days after it runs out. i had same problem last month when mine was due & i was still at sea, foned dvla to confirm that b4 i went to sea.

I normally wait a few weeks after the due date any way.
I think you have 15 days
