car tried to die on me 172

right this morning i drive 1 mile to motorway and join all off a sudden it starts to die dropped a gear an d carried on with a minute it did it again then floored it and it was fine

your thoughts please no managment lights but has a dirty kan filter on it could this be the cause maf not reading signal should i clean it newbie be gentle

They don't have MAF sensors.

Whats a kan and why does it need a filter ?

its a 03 and it had this filter on it when i bought it gonna put it back to standard any ideas

all i did was go up the slip road joined the carrigeway and it sort off like misfired then went back to normal within one minute it did it again then drove 20 miles too work im in rochdale near manchester regards

i would check you have the correct plugs in really

90% they are cheap s**t bosch ones in most rs clios on the road

thanks guys appreciated was serviced by renault last year cambelt was done and 45k service so i presume they were done
