Cars you sold that are now worth a fortune

I'd say my Sapphire cossie and my Nova Van.

Bought the cossie for £5k in 2003, sold it in 2004 for £2,000.00 and a Mk4 escort cab with a 1900 CVH turbo, which I then moved on for £2,500.00, so only lost £500 plus repairing a few bits. That car would probably be worth £12k now.

Nova Van, with a 2.0l 16v and a full roll cage. I paid £1500.00 for it and sold it for £2000.00, so made a little on that, but with the way Nova prices have gone, I reckon that would easily do £4000 now

Mint Williams 3, sold around 2004 for 4500, be easily worth 15k now. S2 escort rs turbo, sold 2002 for 2500, boy that bought it still has it, been garaged most of the time, done about 70k and mint, 20k now probably.

  Land Rover
Don't worry, it was only a Mondial! ;)

Yes l wish people still thought that! They were £6-20,000 in 2010 but now prices start at £25k and go up to 60.

The early ones were a bit rubbish but by the time they got to the final version which l had, they were pretty good. Same engine/transmission as the 348 with adjustable suspension PAS ABS and 310bhp at 9,000 rpm

  Golf R
TVR Tamora - £10500 paid. £12k sold. £25k now.
TVR T350T - £16500 Paid. £25k sold. £35k now.

Then the big bear miss. When I had the T350 I was going to trade it for a 1987 911 (930) Turbo. It was £27k and the Mrs at at time said I was mental. Last year the exact same car sold at Silverstone auctions for £89k and it had another 40k miles on it. f**k.

T350T has just surfaced on here : https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2003-tvr-t350t

Still looks well!

God its a bit of a state.

Also who spends £4k on an engine rebuild but doesn't get the cam cover refurbed.

Also the why not get the wheels refurbed!

Poor thing.

I bought it with 8k miles on for £16500. So it'll be interesting to see what it does!

Oh yeah, now I've gone through all the photo's in detail those wheel's do look shabby!

2 cars I regret selling. Citroen Zx 16v, I had the proper 2.0 one not the volcane. The one with the saxo style arch extensions. That car was incredible. I owned it around 99 I guess, had to sell it as the head gasket went the same time my insurance premium was due. It was eye wateringly expensive as an 18 year old!

My all time regret is selling my silver 1.6 non sunroof 205 GTI in about 2002/3. It was immaculate, bought it with the engine in bits and my dad helped me put it back together. I had various 205’s during that time, but this particular car was my absolute favourite.

sadly I never took photographs of any of my cars back then. Camera phones weren’t even a thing!

Second 205. Bought for £1300 around 2013/4 I think. Planned to do a full resto but she ended up leaving on a flatbed. Solid shell with only a single rust issue on the NS inner wing. The new old stock parts I built up plus engine and box paid for my Clio so I can’t complain really.

Skyline R32 GTR
Clio V6
RX7
Evo 6 RSX

I do genuinely regret selling the GTR aside from value, loved that car but was just in the days where I’d want to try everything and move on.

I couldn’t even tell you of a time I’ve broken down stranded in a car of mine. Aside from the rats nest of vacuum pipes (I’d go single and ditch all the boost control crap) they’re pretty basic engines and reliable enough. Yes they wear out but maintain and they’re fine.

There’s not really many unreliable cars just some that don’t take years of neglect as well as others.

They're a nightmare apparently, you need to let them warm up and cool down after every single drive, so absolutely no good if you need to nip to the shop or something. Amazing when they're on song though from what I've read!

Yeah i see the vacuum system is supposed to be a weak point. Seems to be run 2 stroke oil and a good mineral oil and sorted

Dickheads lol. That's why they need rebuilds every two minutes because people don't know how to run them properly. I was close to buying one but the fact that you can't do short journeys put me off them completely. They sound amazing though!

So many stories of people with RX8’s moving them off the drive then flooding the engine 😂

To be fair they build wicked engines and they seem to be pretty bombproof but personally i wouldnt want to drop £20k on one especially since ive got a skyline sat

What a list. Some epic motors in there mate. I remember going with a friend years ago to buy a Mk2 RS2000. White, T plate and absolutely stock. He’d sold a Mk2 Astra GTE to buy it and he gave £2,500 for it. Must’ve been 89/90 as I was was 17/18 at the time. Car was absolutely mint.
