CAT to middle pipe fitting

Seems like every toy i buy has the exhaust botched...
Mine is currently blowing from where the cat meets the middle pipe. It has a rather rusty bracket holding them together and was blowing from the top part.

Surely this isnt meant to just press up against eachother to make an airtight seal?! Do i need exhaust paste or is there a better way?
Cant stand farting about with exhausts

High temp silicone is usually used to seal part or sleeving the joint by cutting off that olive joint and welding a small . pipe onto it

I'm going to get some of that myself. Exhaust keeps blowing the Paste out haha

I'd seriously recommend spending a little bit of money on this getting the rubbish olive join removed once and for all.

The usual specialists and most exhaust places will be able to cut that off completely and weld a sleeve on. Have a search as many have had this done (including me).

I will do, i need a new middle section for my KTR system (that also doesnt sit right at the rear!! Right tailpipe is in the bumper and the left sticks out?!)
The whole thing has been cut a little bit short i believe. But i need to sort the blowing to drive it until i get that sorted.

I have used bathroom silicone on my Focus ST in the past as I run out of high temp stuff and it was fine and that was on for 2 years

You can get high temp stuff from Screwfix or Toolstation, it's rated to 300 deg max and 250deg continuous so pretty good.
It's what people use to seal stove pipes and such.

Much cheaper than halfords stuff I'm guessing? Il take a look in screw fix...interesting about the bathroom stuff, held up ok with the heat I take it then? Just don't want to be re-doing it again and again, read all the stories about paste crumbling away after no time at all and having to reapply, hoping to avoid that with the silicone :smile:

Im going to use some JBweld Red silicone. WIll report how that goes

Yeah it was fine and that was on a mapped 2.5 5cyl turbo so it produced a fair bit of heat.
I would try and use high temp stuff but if you are stuck it works

Ive just had mine done, had it sleeved and welded to the cat. No more blowing and sounds 100x better.
