CDX-7500 or CDX-F7700

Apart from about 20 quid and a wopping 2w per channel does anyone know whether the 7700 is substantially better?

I heard that new Sonys had a problem with the power supply and gave a distaorted sound at high volume. Will this affect one or both of these units do you know?

Cheers peeps

Ive seen the F7700 on Ebay for £129 plus £35 delivery. Theres also a F7705 on there but I cant work out the difference.

Your right and they do look one of the nicest HUs Ive seen for a long time.

Just had a look on eBay. They are USA spec units so you may not get radio reception in FM over here. Also there is import duty on electrical/electronic items (about 45 quid) which isnt mentioned because HM Customs will bill you! Not to mention the 35.00 delivery charge and 5.00 insurance..so:

129 + 35 + 5 + 45 = 214 quid

and you can get a UK spec unit for 211 inc vat and delivery and the warranty is valid at Sony dealers and doesnt have to be done direct to Sony.

Beware!

I was hoping that Customs may forget/not bother/slip through the net.

Stuck now then. I want a decent HU capable of playing MP3s for about £150.

Whats the CDX-R3300 like? Aslong as it plays MP3s, has a decent power output and looks ok thats all i want.

Dont know the difference between the two, but I have had absolutely no problems with my 7500.

If sounds great, and runs my 13cm infinitys fine. Have a sony amp for the 6x9s... and its all working fine together.

No distortion at high volumes (but I had to use a deadening spray on the speaker cover trim, because theyre not designed for such capable speakers)...

Took it to road radio, who said not to do anything to it, because it sounded great....

If the 7700 offers auto voulme (to compensate for road noise) then go for it, cause the 7500 doesnt.

Been looking at these units myself and cant decide, but as you gents have found them for £212 im going to order the 7700. Its doing my head in having to keep putting CDs in and out!!!

Check out the Alpine range, theyve not long realised the new models so you may be able to pick up a bargin priced model from last year.
