Changed the Aux belt today on the Bean....(pics)

After getting totally messed about at "Camden Renault, Dunstable" and paying for a 36K service which should have included the Aux belt change but DIDNT!

Myself and a fellow member (marsh182cup) deciede to change his belt our selves!

Neather of us had done one before but we weren't going to let it defeat us!

As for so called special tools, all you need is a 3/8 small extension or sump plug socket shown here:

Took a good few hours all in all but was not a bad job, and less of a problem than we thought it would be.

Would be ok if you had a bit more room! LOL

That engine is sooo shoe horned into the bay!


How long do Renault give you to change one bud?

i think its 4hours on one with aircon, wel thats roughly how long i took the other week 2 do it, same principles as the 1.4 1.6 1.8 but obviously tight tight tight on a 2.0 clio

lol at the headlight out and bumper off!!! You werent trying hard enough! You can do them in an hour, full kit!

Ah, sweet I think we took about 4 hours, but there was 2 of us on it. Not bad for a first attempt.

As with everything, become a doddle eventually!helps when you have midget long fingers like me!


LOL, yea im sure it does, but im not planning on doin many more! I sold my cup an never had to do it, only did on the 182 as we got messed about by Renault as usual!

i wouldnt choose to do a cambelt on a 172/182 on the side if i was asked to, more hassle than its worth, would hav 2 pay me like £500 lol
