Changing brakes on a 1.4

  Megane 225 F1
Protyre have told me that my brake discs and pads need replacing sooon as there is a lip building on both the disc and pad. They wanted £130 quid to do it including parts labour and vat. Now if i buy a mintex kit (the same they said they would use) it can cost me 40 quid. How hard is it to change it all and is it safe for me to do it myself?

I want to get it done soon because the squecking is doing my head in lol

Never done it before but should be very easy mate - just find some who can do it if you cant and pay then £30 or something job done

Well on my 182 I'm pretty Sure it sjust Loosen 1 of the Top Bolts on the Rear of the Caliper and Completely remove the Lower and swing the Caliper upwards and clear of the Disks and there were 2 IIRC Bolts that you just undo with an allen Key and the Disk comes off.... Copper slip the face and replace with new...... may be a few other lil bits and pieces but it really is a simple task

Hmmm might take a look at it when i get the discs and pads. Alot cheaper than spending 130 to get protyre to do it!

Cheers

I planned to do mine on my 1.2, Had the parts and the tools, Set about doing one side and the discs where so rusted on as well as the bolts i didnt have enough times to sit hacking away incase anything went wrong.

Bloke in a local garage fitted them for £80 in the end, Dont know if its a good price or not.. But no one else wants to fit parts they havent ordered themselves in my area. He said they where very rusted on and took him quite a while to do it.

My discs and pads cost £67 inc delivery from Brakepartsinternational.
