Changing exhaust - tips for jacking etc!

Car  ?
I'm planning on fitting an exhaust tomorrow and I'm gnna just cut the old one off so don't need to drop the rear beam.

If I jack up the car From the sills what's the safest place to use axle stands on the rear or the car? I plan on putting a axle stand under each bit of the central box section but as I'm going to be under the car for a while I wasn't sure if this is the safest place?

Thanks, ahmed

When I had my rear up on stands while I did my springs I just used the jacking points on the sills. Was on the stands for a few hours due to stubborn bolts that wouldn't loosen and I never had any complications i.e sill bending etc.

You can drop the rear bean if you know what your doing but I just cut mine off from the backboxes. Also did the same on a mate's 172. It's only mild steel so wont take no longer then ten minutes.

Just make sure the car is stable on the stands. You wont want it wobbling while cutting it.

I got my 182 exhaust off in one piece without dropping the rear beam. I was on my own and had a lot of swearing for company.

How did you get the mddle secion over the rear beam LegoHead?. I tryed taking the bumper off and still couldn't manage it.
