Changing System Drive letter

  Tesla MP3 2021
Is there anyway to change the system drive letter.
as when i installed XP on my new system with 2 new SATA 2 hard drives for some reason it picked F as the drive letter in stead of C. I think its because i had some removable storage pluged in at the time and that took up the C position.

I dont want to format and reinstall as the system is running spot on and tbh i cant be arsed lol.

Thanks

Control panel/administrative tools/computer management

click on disk management on left hand side near bottom of list

right click on hard drive on right hand side and choose change drive letter

slightly shorter way to that (if ur a lazy mofo) is right clicking on 'My Computer' and clicking 'Manage' :)

yeah ive already been down that route unfortuantly you cannot chnage the system drive letter through Disk management, i was wondering if there was more of say like a DOS method or by using the boot cd????

have you unpluged your gigatron series 2.64? as the mega ding dong can overwrite the itse-witse-tiny-winy-yellow-pokadot-bikini..

give that a shot

Biffons that sounds like a VERY bad idea.

Firstly you won't be able to change the drive letter while it's mounted. Windows is in use, therefore changing the drive letter isn't possible.

Secondly, it could have catestrophic effects as all your shortcuts and files are mapped to F:\ and it's likely multiple things will break in the process.

Technically it should be possible to remap it via DOS, but really I wouldn't advise changing your install drive letter from F:\

Spooky thread.

This is exactly what happened to me last night.

C became I and D was J and E was K.

Sorted now though.
