oh my lord..had my first race tonight would have to be a vts!!!!! anway going towards meadowhell and a black vts pulls up with tunes booming out, blacked out windows...lovely evening had my windows down and heard his girlfriend said nice car to saxo driver...he said "f***ing sh*te"..he then began to rev his engine...i dont normally bite but when the wife said dont let this git past you are you cant drive this again!!!! right that was it!!! let him race of as he glnced across and laughted....into second and realled him in right up his arse...he was not going anywhere.....traffic lights and they turned red he slowed down as if to stop thn excellerated through red.i just had to follow..first gear matched neck and neck but 5000 rpm and the cams kick in and i was gone straight down the bypass thorugh traffic lights and away...where was the saxo??? never to be sean again...jesus what a rush..a truly pant staining moment!!!!

meant no disrespect to saxos by starting this topic they are great little cars..go like stink, great value...never raced a vts before so not sure what to expect..come to think of it it was my first race full stop....in first and part of second gear was nothing in it just that cam surge that took me through..these renaults really are fantastic

Cuppy where do you live now? I may have got mixed up though did say meadowell which is in north shields if where thinking of the same place!! And I think I was talking to Cuppy 172 about meeting in Newcastle.
That dont say much VTS handling as good as TT cos TTs handle sh*te!! my dads got one & he said his old Sieera 4x4 handled better. i have also driven a couple on Palmersport days at bedford aerodrome - they are w**k just a nice looking overpowered golf/beetle/A3/skoda....etc My old 106 Rallye left one for dead down a backroad i know on the twisties i looked in the mirror & the TTs arse end was twitching like Dale Winton in a playground. (thumped me on the long straight though when he eventually got past) would like to meet the same guy in the Cup!! Different story....Anyway i dont know what the fuss about VTS saxos is 120bhp vs 172 bhp no contest they are over 4 seconds slower to 100 then acceleration over a ton is ssllooww, the Cup just keeps pulling..
Hi, I race Simon172 all the time and Iveonly beaten him once. Admittadly he only just bought the car and had a bad start
the 172 old shape beats my stock vts easily. I even raced him up a hill when he had a full car and he beat me Ive only ever raced 1 new shape 172 and I beat it. Is there a difference between the 2 models or is Si just a better driver? The new shape one aI raced was from Tradesales (the importers) so it might not be the same spec as the uk one.I doubt in a fair race a standard VTS could beat a 172, it will get beat by some margain (unless youve got a "magic" VTSQuote: Originally posted by chrismvts on 16 April 2003

. There is very little differene between a mark 1 and 2 performance wise its down to the individual car.ha ha ok bottle it then
people underestimate evry one of my cars til theyve bloody raced me its so funny, had it with the williams, have it now with the VTS, regardless of mates vts and what not its very rare il come off second best in a race. especially upto 80. and id eat my hat if a standard 172 pulled a couple of cars on me upto 80.your forgetting the craggy factor = car ability x 10³
