Cigarette lighter socket - no power?

hey guys.

the cigarette lighter socket in my 182 has no power running to it. it was quite dirty from the previous owner so I tried to clean it out with vodka and an earbud, until i realised that the light wasn't even working around the edge of it :S

any ideas? i need to use the satnav tuesday.

well this is what i thought :S but then i searched online and apparently (what iv read could be wrong) the same fuse that powers the cigarette lighter also powers the clock light. and thats working? hmmm.

i contemplated that in the end haha, until i looked at it and it was brown from the ash

pull the lighter housing out and you should see a fiew cables see if thyre loose if not then use a codinuity tester or a multimetre and see if there is 12v on any of the cables. if not youl have to re wire take a 12v switch live of the radio if needs be. but if there is 12v there then you may have an earth fault also take a new feed of the radio. any more info required pm me m8
