Cleaning and protecting coilovers..?

Gonna strip my front coils off today and clean them all up, but what can I use to protect them?

Previously used copper slip but it makes everything stick to them, so I'm after something I can buy off the shelf today to do a better job..

I was thinking push bike spray on wax lube? Supposed to be durable and dries??
