clio 1.2 16v problem

well... my car cut out on me few weeks back all it would do wos start up then run astho it wos gonna stall then cut out

then on dash came up with the electrical fault symbol, had to get it towed home anyways,

just been into garage today and the guy thought it wos this wiring loom thing?:S i dont have a clue about cars btw, so he replaced that and phoned up today and he said he cant find whats wrong with it :S and 1 else had this problem or no what it could be? as it gonna cost me a fortune!

Get it into a Renault garage, and ask them to read off the ecu. Will cost you though if u aint under warrenty.

be better at a renault specialist rather than renault tbh mate

have a look in the yellow pages for 1

^ agree with that one, renault specialist is the way to go. Theres a really good one by me who charges a fraction of the price of the dealership and imo does a better job

i think its at 1:S not to sure as my brother in law is sorting it out its annoying as the car has only done 23k:dapprove:

the guy just phoned there he cant fix it and dont wanna take it to renault as it will cost me a fortune, and parents are just gonna trade it in so no more clio :dapprove:

Mate, I had same prob with mine, on 19k on an 02 reg plate, was under warranty had ecu replaced at reno. Not sure how much will cost if not under warranty though.

ahhh rite this guy had memded all the things it said wos wrong with it and it still comes up with this fault so i think it is the ecu but i dont really want to go to reno and get my eyes taken out! and 1 no how much an ecu would be? :approve:

Seems to be ECU if it's not that then god knows wots up with it. Had mine replaced 8 months ago been fine since, hope it don't cost too much fella

Have you checked the throttle body is clean? The 1.2 16V engine has a load of problems.

mine had the same problem mate. i took the casing off the ecu and it had worn through the wires and started to fuse the ecu. just left casing off and taped over wires and its fine now. with no thanks atall to renault!

Throttle Body Failure

Wiring loom cut by metal box

TDC sensor

Coil Pack

Air leak

Throttle Pedal Failure (electric)

Coolant Sensor

ECU


List goes on. Unfortunatly is a fault finding mission which can be costly, lucky enough i didnt have to pay labour as dads a mechanic but try and getagarage to do a general fault finding check on the above items.

Deff get it on a Renault CLip Machine tho!
