clio 1.2 16v to 172 bodykit conversion??

  2002 172
im tryin to get my clio to look like a 172 and so far ive put the back bumper on. i want to get the front bumper and front wings and sideskirts in the future but need to know if its possible to fit and easy?

Yep, but its expensive you need the arch (unless you going to do without and underseal the car instead ever few months).

its pretty easy to fit

you will need 2 wings, 2 skirts, front bumper, front splitter, front arch liners and if u want the front grill

oh yeah and colour coding to get the 172 look

wings - £100 for pair roughly from renault
bumper - £130 or so
splitter - £50 from ebay
arch liners - £100 from renault :O
front grill - £200
skirts - im not sure

from a decent sprayer your also talking £500 or so for spraying and fitting

also, from going from a 1.2 to the 2ltr arches you will need wheel spacers for the hubs

i would recommend 15mm spacers and 16/17" wheels

spacers - £50 or so and you will need to get some extended wheel nuts/locking nuts for around £30

and lol on standard suspension the car will look like a boat so it will need lowering which will also add on to the bill

over all it is quite an expensive change but if you do it right and haggle our ass off it isnt too bad

The only alteration you will need is new wings ;)

172 arches are flared slightly to fit the bumper.

u need 172 wings and 172 front bumper - plus the list i made up above!

the 172 wings are wider than the standard ones on ur 1.2

and yes, since they are renault, they will fit perfectly!

Just noticed this thread, so do u need rch liners for the front as i was told you only need rear ones. Also why do you need spacers?

You don't need them you can just run without any liners jut make sure you underseal where the arches would normally protect ever few months.
You don't need spacers but you need them for the wheels to look right as the wider arches won't look right with the wheels closer in the arches.

I dont know much about cars really, so where do the spacers go as Ive bought the whole kit and 4 16" speedline cup alloys.

Just colour code it!!! If you fit the full kit people will think it's a 172 a brag to their mates how they tanked an RS!

  172 cup TT
Awww.. reminds me when i first started to drive years ago wanting my 1st car a Nova Sr to look like a GSi. Much less hassle by the sounds of things

You bolt the wheels to the hubs normally.
Spacers fit between the hub and the wheels.
Basically there just pushing the wheel further and further out.
Spacers come in a few different tyres there are universal one like Demon Tweeks sell etc which fit any wheel there just basically a round plate you fit over the hub and use the standard bolts. The biggest is about 5mm.
The next type includes bigger bolts as well as if you think about it using big spacers will mean that normal bolts won't be long enough to go trough th wheels andthe spacers and get a few god threads on the hub.
The final type are the hub centrical ones, there expensive (£80 or so) but the best type there used for over 10mm usually and you usually need them custom making.
You've got to remember doing this has two main advanatges and disadvantages.
Advantages
1) It mkaes the wheels look positioned rihgt in the arches.
2) It gives greater stearing feedback (relitivly ) due to a load of stuff I cannot explain.
Disadvantages
1) It will put more load on the bhub bearings so they will wear quicker how much quicker depends on who you drive and a load of other factors.
2) Cost and risk.
