clio 1.6 16v

what are these engines ike, insurance for a 172 is a little dear lol,

also if i put one of these engines in would my 1.2 16v gearbox ect be ok with it?

what are they like ie fugures, also they seem to go for £450ish so only cheap lol

lol, mice seems to go some and its only a 1.2 so i thought if i can have a 172 then ill have a 1.6 16v for now ,

they are about 110 bhp give our take a few bhp if you are planning on doing a converstion you can sue the clio 1.6 engine our the meggy one as i am thinking of doing this to my 1.2 untill im old and wise and buy a 182

they arent big power for a 1.6 nor are they much quicker than a 1.4 16v
but that said they are good fun and quick enough for my needs

the gearbox is different to the 1.2 iirc (strengthened i think)

there pretty quik but not overaly but thats wat 172 and 182 are for. i wudnt bother puting a 1.6 lump in yours thou mate just sell your car and swap bits over to 1.6 16v clio easyer and probaly cheaper

You need more than the engine you want the looms and ECU since yo've a phase 1 its eaiser at least. Yuor gearbox will mate up but the 1.6 has the strongr JC3 rarther than your JC1 box its up to you if you want to upgrade noone any idea how how say how long yours would last.

Matt was saying £1k for a 1.6 conversion parts but I think that included more than you realy need ie brakes and hubs etc so might be able to get some. But least you'd get the bigger brakes which would be better plus the suspension to be right.

Yep phase 2's more difficult. You need the ECU plus they are always more broken new throttle bodies etc and UCH/ECU.
I could do it yep but nope.

Fitment do it yourself get others to help dependding what you get its not that difficult best find a garage with a 4 post lift as it makes it easier.

Garge would charge £500 to £1/.5k i'd recon depends who it is etc.

How steep is insurance on a 172 matey? I wouldn't bother with a 1.6 conversion.. my corsa is 1.6 and is equal to mk2 1.6 clio's. it's nippy but not worth the hassle imo. Im hoping to get a Mk1 172 early next year btw

so all in im looking at how much???? £1500?

Don't pay someone to do it DIY the job is a better idea £1k for Matt for the bits you should have the hubs and brakes and bits you need so get some money back or keep the bits as spare. Then idealy chnage the clutch anc cambelt get someoen to do it its not going to take more than an hour to do if the engine not in a car to do cambelt if you don't have the tools.

New fluid clutch cambelt filters etc I'd say bargin £250

Total cost £1.3k say.

172 it though or just keep your engine not worth spending £1.3k for an extra 35hp spend an extra £500 and get a 172 engine with bigger brakes wider suspension and 90hp.
