Clio 172/182 vs Megane 225?

  Megane Mk4
I did
I took one on a test drive with my brother when they came out... For an extra 45 bhp its a quick motor.. Problem is we took it out on a damp road so stopping it from wheel spinning on power was a bit of a problem but its a solid car on the road and if I had the extra £££ I would have probably opted for the Megane than the 182.....

But I had fun driving it

Honest opionion here even though I have a 225 lol. The 225 full fat is about as quick as a p2 172 full fat although the 172 and 225 I have had my 225 is half a second quicker over the 1/4 mile (standard) The full fat 225 has been panned by EVO for not being hardcore enough which is fair play but I rekon its reputation has been unfairly tarnished as its a fooking awsome car. even in the twisties you would not seperate a 225 and a 172.

The trophy or cup versions of the 225 are really going to make things happen for the megane I think. The 225 trophy is more along the lines of a cup handling wise. Obviously because its bigger ultimately you loose a small amount of chuckability but the 225 has the legs and when rolling its a fair bit quicker than a 172.

At the end of the day they are all broadly similar pace cars, but once your rolling the 225 is a very impressive car. Still rare as fook too which is nice. Add a 270 BHP chip and you have a very capable vehichle. Porsche carreras and STIs are your playmates with that sort of power!

I pulled on to the A59 behind a meganne 225 full fat, we both put our foot down at the same time, and I can honestly say his was the quicker car by a fair amount,he must of been at least 7 cars infront to 70mph. I knew he was gonna have a lot better tourqe (most noticeable when we changed to 2nd gear) but It was clear he was in the quicker car.

traction is an issue from a standing start (hence the fairly modest 15.00 second 1/4 mile) but they are punchy as anything when rolling.
