Clio 172 Cup - speed sender won't fit in Gearbox

I'm having an issue trying to fit the speed sender into the gearbox of our clio cup.

No abs so deffo the speed sender in the box.

Bought new sender but it literally doesn't fit in the opening in the box.

Anyone else had similiar issues?

I had to refit mine today (changed clutch)
I think it only fits on one position, so try rotating it as you push it in.
Also a smear of grease on the O ring will help it slide in as well.

Yea, tried greasing the o-ring's but i don't even think that it's going in thst far. It feels like the plastic is to wide.

Putting it in with both clips towards the front of the car?

Yes, tried that aswell.
Are there different sized senders?

I wonder if the gearbox has been changed at somepoint. How can i tell what gearbox is in the car?

It looks like the speedo drive is damaged in that picture
