Everything else has been said all i want to put is "O dear" and "you are a stupid f**k for admitting your plate on here then to follow up with admitting you have had big power gains and no insurance to go with it!"

  Clio 182 FF cup'd
Tbh honest I don't blame the guy for not declaring mods, if insurance wasn't such a huge rip off for young drivers I'm sure everybody would declare mods. I've got a standard 182 living in Liverpool which insurance companies think is the equivalent to beirut and even with maximum NCB I'm paying close to £2000! I would dread to think how much mine would go up if I even just got my windows tinted!! :(

nobody forces you to mod a car, if you can't afford the insurance leave it stock!

  Corsa Van. Meh.
Another one without valid insurance. If you cant afford the insurance either don't mod it or buy a cheaper car. You're asking for trouble.

So if he was to crash into you and his insurance was invalid you would be happy with having to claim on your insurance?

I think the moral of the story is if you are doing something illegal ie. fraudulently insuring a vehicle to keep the cost down, then keep it to yourself, don't come on a public forum and shout about it.

Seriously though, what a f**king idiot.

meh another one! insurance is part of the running costs of the car, if you can't afford it then get a slower car; modifying it so far as to turboing it and not speaking to insurance = pretty damn retarded!

every negative comment on here is justified.

i can picture you now, cretin. hope your project fails as you dont deserve to be on the road.

bothered if its harsh, people like you is what puts me in financial difficulty trying to run a car i love.

I genuinely hope there are some local Police reading this thread and they take note of your registration....

I wonder what would happen if you went into your local station and made them aware?

You've got it completely wrong mate, Don't feel sorry for him. It's BECAUSE of people like him that Insurance prices are so high.

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
would you class your insurance as high? honestly ? im fully comp with protected NCB with all mods declared and its £630 a year on my 182. i never understood people that are paying £1000's.

do you not shop around for your insurance?

So let me get this right:

A Clio 172 in Blue with registration plate L11 PEX and owned by a guy called Luke living in the Darlington area has a non standard Turbo fitted that is not declared making the insurance in the car fraudulent?

Did I mention I sit next to a Special Constable at work?

  Fabia VRS
My mates a traffic cop and has to deal with idiots like you all the time

It will be different when your pulled over and the insurance isnt valid :)

Can you please do us all a favour and barrel-roll it into an empty field ASAP.

Is there any way to find out what company a car is insured with? I'm sure a little email to them with all the details would be enough for them to cancel his policy.

Although, would he then just drive without any insurance at all?

I'm not defending him at all, what he's doing it wrong.

But, it doesn't work like this at all all the people moaning on about how his insurance would be void and they'll loose their car etc need to have a look at how it actually works. His insurance would always pay out to third parties because they have too, so you wouldn't loose a thing in that situation. He wouldn't get payed out for his and the insurance company are perfectly within their rights and have been known to then take the (un)insured to court to recover costs.

It debatably makes your insurance more expensive because it "costs" the insurance company more so they use it as an excuse to pass higher prices on.

The 3rd party will never loose out because the law won't let them. So put your knickers back on, there are far worse things happening in the world. At least he's got insurance in the first place.

Yeah, they will pay out if he hits someone, but its the fact my insurance is going up not down because of people like him that's the problem.

AH, but then he'd flag up on ANPR camera's. That's the trouble with it, unless he's in a serious accident OR he posts it on a public forum, people are unlikely to ever find out.

3rd party loses out by paying higher premiums, and also he doesn't have insurance technically as it's now void.

It'll go up full stop because they've always got an excuse. On the up side mine went down £150 this year :p.

Re: Clio 172 cup turbo - help on insurance !!

Thanks to people who have let me no it's actually possible to insure for the mods I've done because don't think I haven't tried I've looks rang emails al sorts of companies and no one wants to know ! any company names would be great !

And I've known mates who have been done over by there companies just for coil overs ! so I no the risk ... I'm actually insured for coil overs and wheels which is probs more than 90% of people who mod cars have , and if I did crash I'd still have to pay out for any damages caused from my own pocket ...I keep my driving sensible and keep anything risky for track ! Unless I know exactly what the road does and what's on it , It isn't speed that causes 99% of accidents anyway it's down to bad carless drivers who are oblivious to what's going on , I've been driving for over 3 years now and haven't been close to crashing not saying I'm not saying I'm perfect obviously !but its defiantly not due to owning fast cars crashes are caused ...
All this has gone to far but if anyone does feel strongly enough to report me etc fair
enough I'll hold my hands up and take the car off the road,

And modified cars would never even of kicked off if every one was as straight as people on here are making out to be no one would ever of kicked the scene off if that was the case and we would all be driving about in boring ass cars that no one can enjoy half as much as we do now ! But judge me how you want and anyone with good info on help to insure it will be much appreciated ...

Fair play to you mate. I was fully expecting lots of shouting and swearing in your response.

Try Brentacre, Sky insurance, Chris Knott, Adrian Flux, Greenlight are good but they don't insure cups :(
That's all that I can think of for now. Definitely worth looking around though. If you pay your membership, a few of the insurance companies that are on here offer discounts to club members.

Thanks lots easier to help persuade me to insure it than just throw abuse but I can see how upset some poeple are and won't be able to change everyones mind and when I've finally finished my build I'll be sure to ring around these companies and I was going to join yesterday but got put off a little ... Much appreciated

It's to be expected mate really, a whole bunch of people on here would love to have your car, but can't because they can't insure them.

Re: Clio 172 cup turbo - help on insurance !!

I'm actually insured for coil overs and wheels which is probs more than 90% of people who mod cars have.

What's the point of insuring the coilovers and wheels? Your insurance is still invalid, so you might as well pay less and tell them it's on standard stuff.

...if I did crash I'd still have to pay out for any damages caused from my own pocket.

You're assuming you'll only have to pay out for a car. What if you cause severe injuries to a third party? Costs could easily be in the hundreds of thousands.

I keep my driving sensible and keep anything risky for track!

I doubt that. You're already taking risks with your insurance, why wouldn't you take risks on the road?

Unless I know exactly what the road does and what's on it , It isn't speed that causes 99% of accidents anyway it's down to bad carless drivers who are oblivious to what's going on , I've been driving for over 3 years now and haven't been close to crashing not saying I'm not saying I'm perfect obviously !but its defiantly not due to owning fast cars crashes are caused

3 years is f**k all driving experience. How can you know exactly what a road does and what's on it?

But judge me how you want

Will do. Ta.

And on that awesome bombshell.

Get it insured, don't be a plank.

Oh and you put your knickers back on, it still causes insurance to go up wether it pays out for 3rd parties or not.

You can't defend what he's doing, simples.
