Clio 172 Cup - Two day Detail

  R14 CUP
Day 1
I set out this morning, to fully detail the car over the next two days espiecally since the weather has been as fantastic as it has been.

I am on Stand at Trax on sunday, so perfect time to get it ready.

As you can see, its not in the best of conditions, living in the countryside and the weather being as wet as it has been, i haven't been able to keep on top of it, as well i as i hoped.

Wash

Washed using the two bucket method, using Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo (for the first time), reasonably impressed with it, i havent seen the best of it yet, as there is hardly any wax left on the car.

Note, hardly any suds at all - strange sensation!

Car was still beading quite well at this point. Dried with Sonus Waffle Weave drying towel.

ClayClayed using AG Clay kit, used Megs kit before, but found it very very average, not nearly aggressive enough. Very impressed with this kit, picked up quite a bit of excess particles from the paint.

Wash (again)

Using same method as before.

Beading not half as tight as before.

Car stripped down

Rear Lights removed and washed down, before.

Corrective Work

Car was suffering from some very light stratching, micro marring and some light swirls, used Menzerna Power Finish again, using Kestral DAS6 all over car, whilst trims and lamps were removed.

Will be carrying on from where i left off tonight, tomorrow morning, with some more finer corrective work to be completed including removal of a few heavier scratches on the drivers door.

Look forward to seeing your progress for tomoro!

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
Looking good mate. Be interested to see the conclusion tomorrow. I wouldn't want to drive mine if I'd spent 2 days cleaning her every nook!!!

Only really putting the effort in due to going to a show on sunday, a normal wash/wax isn't half as thorough as this!

mines all detailed ready for today and tomorrow however 3 hour drive down the motorway usually sees a fair few hundred bugs stuck to the front end. just a spray of qd should see them off, lol seen somone last year with a saxo cling film all the front bumper up and tip of the bonnet for that exact reason haha no offence to anyone who dies that buts its abit ghey

Day Two

Finishing Polish

After having a quick scoot around this morning, with a bottle of Zaino Z6 QD, to quickly get off bits of dust and water marks, i got cracking on with the finishing Polish, Menzerna Super Finish + Sonus Red SFX pad, its a combo that has worked quite well for me, but i do think the pad is the weak link of the combo.

The clio was certainly getting there, the paint was so much better, all the micro marring and swirls that we're evident yesterday, had gone by this point. We was getting somewhere!

Sealant

I have been using Zaino Z8, but i have ran out of it and couldn't source anywhere that had it in stock, typically i looked on CYC this morning, and its back in stock.

I used Chemical Guys Blitz!, whilst it isn't as good as Z8, its certainly up to the job

Door Shuts and Hinges

Door shuts and hinges were all agitated with Megs APC and a megs slide lock brush, then coated in Collinite 915.

Wax

I decided i was going to layer the wax, so i used the same Collinite as the door shuts.

Buffed off with EuroW microfibre.

Then layered Dodo Juice Supernatural on top of the Collinite, to hopefully add another dimension to the paintwork

Paintwork completed, and i am very pleased with the outcome.

Trims + such like

Gave the side mouldings another good clean, they had become very discoloured and suffered alot from polish and wax getting stuck.

19.jpg

They look much much better now, and the bullets have come up superbly!

The treatment for black trims! Yes, it really does work!

21.jpg

I was really running out of day light, so had to do wheels in a hurry. I used Bilberry to a good consistancy and then agitated with a wheel brush and wiped clean. Quick layer of AG QD, to remove the film that bilberry leaves behind, then wax and sealed with Swissvax Autobahn.

See you all at Trax, tomorrow!

Same as you'd apply any other treatment, I just get a little bit on a oldish microfibre. Wipe it on, work it in, buff excess off with a nice clean towel :)

It's that simple.

What it's best at doing is removing White marks, from there you are best to put some trim treatment on, such as the ag product which is very very good. I personally use blackwow!, majority just mask the White/fading rather than remove it.
