clio 172 grasstrack project, engine question.

  172 cup track car
right guys, we are currently in the process of building a grasstrack car out of my clio 172 cup, trouble is they have certain criteria to meet, which is the following.

upto and including 2.0lt
16 valve allowed.
needs to be on a carb or carbs
must be a standard form engine.

so whats the best option in order to get the engine to this spec??,

am i right in thinking rip the current 172 cup engine and loom out, and replace with the early 172 loom and engine and that way be easier to bolt a carb setup due to the throttle differences????

opinions would be greatly appreciated.

regards
jay

yeah cos its only the internals that are to be standard, no cams etc, they dont allow injection for some reason, we could just build a fiesta and put a 2.0 zetec and carbs on that etc, but i want a clio and just need a bit of guidence on how to go about the engine side..... the rests a doddle, lol.

Its so you don't have high pressure (40psi+) fuel pressure on the cars when racing - less chance of a fire in the chance of an accident. Same as banger racing rules.
