Clio 172 ph1- black, OEM restoration.

So. I managed to track down some service history for the Clio after finding where it had been MOT’d for parts of its life.
Sutton Park Renault came back to me with the service history they have for the Clio.

Bought it to reshell it into a caged shell we had. It had lived a life!

Couple of jobs today, oil change, re balance the wheels and investigate air con inop.

Recovered 340g refrigerant from the a/c system, vacuumed and refilled to the correct amount 660g +/- 35g.

Air con now working lovely.

Center caps fitted, all wheels rebalanced, previous sticky weights removed and the insides all cleaned out.

2nd time I’ve driven it today since I got it.
Drives really nice, feels tight, no strange noises and I haven’t even heard any rattles from the interior which is strange for a Clio 2!!!

Lookin' good. Needs white/clear side indicator lenses. Doesn't look right with the orange ones imo. Also Silvervision indicator bulbs.

Will be staying as factory as possible, no mods apart from lowering springs. 👍

So I’ve taken the side skirts off to give everything a clean behind etc. The amount of mud and shite that was caught up behind there was quite comical.

Having the skirts off aloud me to straighten and repaint/hammerite the sills where clowns have been jacking the Clio up in the past.

I also cleaned out about a KG of mud behind the arch liners.

I side down, 1 to go.

Drivers front properly bent over..

Straightened.

Cleaned up and painted the lower sill/jacking points. Also gave the insides of the skirt a good going over.

Those bent jacking points weren't all that bad really, straightened out nicely too! I did mine this summer but some bits I couldn't get back to an oe look. I BH electroxed mine after deox gel but I do worry about the rust trapped in the layers, dynax ub under the skirts too for extra protection.

I bought the correct size peel rivets from a member on here but ended up using stainless button head bolts with nylock nuts so I can annually remove, check and clean behind the skirts

I will find out for you when I’m back to work in the new year, I think they’re £2.58 per rivet and you need 10 in total, however I got them free

I take it you work at that dealers? is it near Bristol? I was enquiring about a kangoo they had a few months back and looks similar
