Clio 172 ph1- black, OEM restoration.

So, cracked on with a couple of jobs today.

Removed locking wheel nuts, the car never came with a locking key, bit of a mission but got there in the end. Replaced with standard bolts thanks to JMRS who lives just down the road! Ideal!

Headlights, all restored now, literally transforms the car.

Fitted some Eibach springs on the rear as it was riding high, I presume the wrong springs were on there. I’ll fit the fronts at a later date. Again from JMRS.

Gave it a wash, to remove all the dust and crap from machine polishing. Also cleaned out the arches etc.

I do have some genuine center caps to fit, bit I’ll wait until I re-balance all the wheels before fitting them in with a dab of silicone to stop them going walkies!

So I’ve spent a lot of time on the inner sills since I got the car, treating the rust etc.

Finally finished them tonight with wax oil, was hoping for a nice neat spray coverage but it came out a bit lumpy.

Oh well it’s all done now and you won’t see it all behind the panels.

Looks good seeing there are no holes in the old Ph1. Funny enough I have been doing the same the last few weeks, I expect I will clean back and re-treat every winter, or at the very least check on the situation. I can't see in your photos but its worth check the drain holes in the rear corner are free if you haven't. Mine were a bit clogged up up a good covering!

Yeah ill check them once a year i think, before spraying the Wax Oil i put some wire through the holes to prevent me blocking them up, ill remove the wire later so the drains are clear.

Not sure if you've done it already but for the headlights get some headlight lacquer, mine was made my etech. I've polished headlights before but the yellowing always came back. Done them on my z4 and should hold off the yellowing for some time. Means you don't have to ensure they're waxed all the time too.

Looking lovely that.. you certainly know how to clean a car!.. the Mrs still comments on how clean the A4 Avant was when we bought it off you & that it's never been that clean again.
We've still got it too!

Bloody hell, still got it, cracking cars those A4 b6 models. What’s the mileage on now?

Always love to know on these finds how much folk are paying for something like this. It’s a wee gem you’ve found there for sure. Great stuff. I’m really wanting another clio. Lots more popping up on the site
