Clio 172 replica

  Yozza'd Titanium 182
As a few of you know ive been planning a replica for a while.

I have so far collected the following...(all genuine renault)

Front bumper
Splitter
Sideskirts
Both front wings
RS front grille
Colour coded bumpstrips and door handles.

im now just serching for a rear 172 bumper and im going to finish it off with a cup spoiler.

The lot is being sprayed for 500 pound and then will be choosing my alloys and lowering springs/coilovers

Anyone done a replica, and decent mods? Tips?

Thanks...

Sadly it's not 2.0l though, and I can't be bothered with the badges, I like the 1.2 one's atm.
Maybe i'll have a change of heart,

Back in the good old days alot of guys used to put cosworth bodykits on escorts when they clearly werent Cosworths atall.

Id save your money and buy the real deal mate, when the times right. When i was 17 i thought ill never get a Clio sport but i did and have.

I just dont see the point in trying to make it look like its somthing its not:eek:

its a project something i enjoy, can afford and will be very proud of when finished

but what u said about the escort... when finished the only 2 ways you will be able to tell its a replica is 1 if you look under the bonnet or 2 u notice it has a sunroof

so these escorts must of been abit pish lol

  fiesta 1.25
^ wont need as much on ph2 id say get 20mm on front 10mm on back

Tips:Lower it and do something new not just a boring standard looking rep

  172 Cup (Iceberg)
I must be getting on a bit i remember those dodgy Escorts.......... even worse though were the Astras with the whaletail ha. Remember those??

  Never above 25mpg

Im planning on doing a 172 rep with a slight difference..

The fact Im doing it budget is a huge advantage and there's also the insurance issue, extra cost issue(tax, cost of car to buy), rising fuel price issue and others.

At this point in time with economy going sky high it'd be nice to have a lower engined car with the same looks but half the costs.. if you see what I mean ;)

And it's only a FAIL if you think it's fun to make yourself look like a prick against real ClioSports or cars with bigger engines..

  is dirty.

to me :)
Wish my f**king insurance would hurry up though!
I wanna go out in it.

I'm going to be super cheeky and as how much you paid for it? Is it a 1.2 and how many miles on the clock.
I suppose at the moment I can get away with mine being a Silver cup (even thought its not entirely silver) with anthracite turinis as the cups wouldnt have the xenons and I have all the genuine renault bits, all I need now though is a splitter. Then I can go out and fool people as much as I want by saying it's a rare silver cup. Everyone knows it's a 1.4 and I'm proud of it, it looks fantastic and is great on petrol, tax and insurance.

Very valid points here but alot of 1.2 owners seem to think that the 2.0 are like Hemi V8's on fuel, take it easy enough and itll return you 34mpg all day long. They arent that bad, even if you do spank its little arse itll still give you 26+mpg.

this must be costing a bomb buyin all these genuine renault parts.

I'm struggling to buy coilovers let alone anything else lol

  1.2 Dynamique billabong
it doesnt have to cost a lot to, so far i have paid (prices include postage)
Front bumper with fog surrounds and grill £80
rear bumper £65
Skirts £70
grille £48
Springs £40
meggy splitter £30
Wheels £150

then on paint and materials i have spent
£125 for the body parts and £35 for wheel refurb

that is £643 but that is the whole car done and painted (some painting quotes would be higher than £643) with all the extras like wheels and lowering. if i say so myself it looks ok for a 1.2 (just need to PC the car)

its been a great project and i have really enjoyed doing it. i would have loved a sport but the insurance for me was like £3250. the same price as my car lol. i worked out that i could buy my 1.2 modified it and run it with insurance, tax and mot for 5 years, compared to just one year in an equivalent age/mileage sport. also seeing as in the 4 years i owned my previous car i only clocked up 10k miles and most of that is stuck in traffic on the way to uni it seemed a bit pointless paying so much more. after a few years of this when my insurances is much cheaper then i will get the really thing.
