The Lamda sensor is how the ECU knows what fuel/air ratio its running by determining if its rich or leen. If your friend doesnt think that will effect performance hes special. In regards to timing being out thats probably true if its had its belts changed in the service history at a local garage. Anything other than a specialist or Renault your pretty much guaranteed to not have had the proper timing tools used. It crops up ALL THE TIME on these forums.

Don't think the lambda will make a blind bit of difference, the post cat one is only there to check the cat is working correctly. And if it were a pre-cat one it'd be idling rough and usually puts the engine management light on.

Blocked cat is a possibility I guess. Still, i'd put money on the lambda making no difference at all with what you've said.

Brake pedal switch is very common and just wants adjusting.

Timing wise when did it last have a belt?

as above rear lambda has nothing to do with the mixture, only controls the cat, and im pretty sure the pre cat one goes into closed loop when on full throttle so wouldnt make a difference?

i always hear people taking about blocked cats but never came across one myself, id be looking at cam timing, does it idle ok?

next up check the exhaust system, a guy from here put his cup on the RR and it made just over 100bhp, on close inspection it had a dodgey exhaust that looked like it was less than 2", changed that for a genuine renault, back on the rollers and it put out 172!

Ah sorry i thought it was pre-cat lamda we were talking about. If its the rear then what the above said :D

yea it idles fine... so maybe i need a new exhaust system? the back box on it looks pretty new.... its confusing lol ive just spent 80 quid on a lambda sensor hoping it would be that but by what people are saying its not :( lol

Hmm, just a thought hear ( and don't go murdering my post if this is stupid ) But I think it may have something to do with the fuel delivery system. Try the fuel filter.

If it idles fine and revs up fine when standing still but when you up the speed it doesn't shift, it may not be getting proper fuel delivery?

  clio sport 172
yes maybe... the exhaust sounds a bit huffy and puffy if u no wot i meen lol it also smells quiet bad of fumes aswell

sounds like blocked fuel pump/filters/injectors i swear the same happened to me n the pump and filter both covered in s**t changed the injectors cuz they would have had s**t in too n got a set from a friend who raced cups:rasp:
