Clio 182 Alternator

I've been to see a nice 182 for sale near me, however the alternator has gone.

The seller is going to try and source and fit one, but I thought I'd try and find out how much an alternator costs (is it worth getting a second hand one?), and how much of a pain it is to fit. By all accounts it's not a very fun job.

Do the alternators differ between 172 and 182s? Do any other models use the same ones as a 182?

Renault recon unit is about £153 then an aux belt kit and no more than 2.5hrs labour to change

i got mine from renault wolverhampton on here and was about £170.then the aux kit on top. not that bad of a job to do yourself though really..

When my last alternator went, I had it reconditioned for £75 . The resulting unit, has lasted longer than both the two new genuine renault units I had previously.
