Clio 182 cup for £3000 from a dealer , good or bad deal ?

Car  Arctic Blue 182
Im thinking about getting a 182 cup as they look lovely and are right up my street , ive seen one near where i live in electric blue which had done 70k miles and is up for £3295. After some haggling the dealer said he would do it for £3000 and he would change the cambelt and aux belt .

The problem with the car is that it has no service history but has the the Renault documents , so i done some research and found out that it had 2 years worth of servicing and ive took a look at the mot's on the dvla's website and it all looks legit . The clio is in good overall condition with some marks here and there but nothing compounding wont sort out. I also rang the previous owners parents and they said there son had no problems with it.

however the dealer put the car up on the ramps and we took a look under and there seems to be a oil leak under neath the sump and all over the sump shield , i wouldn't of thought the sump is cracked but looks like oil is at the front of the engine near the oil filter and looks like its been sprayed out , so would it be the rocker cover gasket ?

Also the center box of the exhaust is blowing where can you buy cheap replacements from ?

regards daniel

I would personally try to get more off, and get the belts done correctly at a specialist.

only time i would be buying a top dollar one from a dealer is if it was a FF with full history/belts and under 45-50k miles!

i wouldnt be paying that for a Cup with no history

personally i wouldnt bother having the belts done by the dealer and would just see what sort of deal they were willing to do without the belts so i could have them done 100% properly by someone i trusted.

Daniel,

I have an Inferno 182 cup, 63k, new MOT, belts done, one owner from new, Full History, in near mint condition, you can have that for £3000.

For me the main reason to go to a dealer is security. So knowingly driving off in a car that needs the belts done, the exhaust sorted and is p*ssing oil kinda defeats the purpose imo.

Assuming you like Infernos, Daniel's would be a much better deal!

It's all relevant though, i have a receipt for my exclusive for £14,450 from Renault from 2001 lol

100% get Daniels. Just seen the for sale thread and it looks mint! OP would be mental to buy any other

I wudent go near it with a barge pole fella look around and wait for the best one possible to pop up

I'd avoid the one at the dealers that going to cost you £££ in near future.

As said get yourself to Bristol and have a look at the tidy one Daniel is selling.
