CLIO 182 Engine finished!!

Hi, new to forum. Sadly my clio 182 has died. 04 plate, had it from new and never had any problems with the car. A valve broke off in the engine and basically f**ked the pistons. Too costly to consider fixing. Done 107,000 mls but rest of the body is in a tidy condition. Would like advice on whether its worth selling the shell to someone as a project, for parts or just scrap the car?

Breaking the rest of the car (every last bit) will probably net you back about £1500 - £2000 ish depending on the condition of the other parts.

Scrap is about £120 per tonne at the moment. You'll be lucky to get £150 for it really.

Best bet is to buy a secondhand engine off here and fit that if you want to keep the car.

If you were to sell the car as a whole, as it is, i expect you'd get £1000+ for it.

Fair enough, my guess was way off ha. No doubt stripping the car will be a lot of work! Few weekends in then! Thanks for response

Would it not be less work to lob an engine in and sell it, or even keep it? (and yes, I am aware its not a 5 minute job to change an engine)
