Clio 182 Question...

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
As my girlfriend is selling her Evo VI, I was wondering if the Clio 182 would be adequate to carry a pram etc, and if the boot size was large enough and more to the point, whether the car was capable as a baby carrier?

I've had a 182, as has she, but at the time we werent really looking at them or driving them in a baby related way, so now it looks as though its either a 182 or a Megane 225, but the Clio is what she wants again as she liked her Racing blue 182.

Thoughts? Anyone had the same sort of scenario?

Cheers guys.

Would have thought a 5 door 225 would be more practical in terms of getting a buggy/child in and out? The boot seems quite a good size on the 182 though, but surely having to climb in the back to put the baby in will get a pain after a while.

Don't get a small 3 door car if you plan on having to get a child and baby-seat in and out of the back on a regular basis. I have to do once every month of so with my niece and it's a pain in the arse!

5 door Meggy is much more practical.

My brothers girlfriend sold her Clio because it was to impractical, she could get a pram in but it was way too much hassle. You had to have the wheels in specific positions to just about squeeze it in. Once the pram was in there was no room for anything else in the boot.

I'd say go for a megane! Isn't it a higher Ncap rating as well?

Forget a five door etc, you will soon get a bad back, as access is crap.

With a spare wheel & tray in the boot i've got enough room for a bunch of flowers.

Daughter likes sitting in the front of mine.

Tell her to get a scenic, you can't get a better family car.

We are soon to get our new one.

5 door Meggy Cup!

makes a lot more sense matey, you'd really struggle with the 182.

One of my friends who had a little one, he really struggled with using it everyday...sold it for a CTR though! :S

I wouldnt be fighting trying to get a pram and child seat in and out of the clio if it was me I would go for a 5 door 225 if they were the only two options.

In reality I think if I could afford it I would be keeping the evo, good sized family ;) car imho

Clio boot is pony if you have a kid. Tried fitting a clients pram in once and is was tight. Had to remove parcel shelf and put in diagonally, lol!

She wants something that still has a bit of excitement in it, such as the Clio 182 or the Megane 225. She's had a 106 Quicksilver, Fiesta Zetec S, 106 GTi, VX220, Clio 182, 106 GTi and now an Evo VI, so I dont think the Scenic will be topping any 'To Buy' lists. She had planned for a Clio 182, Megane 225, sporty looking Golf or Seat Leon Cupra as well as contemplating keeping the Evo. I think Megane, mainly because I've never driven one and I like the look of them :approve: lol.

^^^^good luck with the bad back ;)

We sold a golf 5dr as it didn't have good access (audi a3 is same car).

When the kid is tiny it's easy, it's when they start getting bigger you will struggle, been there done that.

we found a pram that fits in the 182 boot corner to corner (silver cross 3d travel system) car seat fits nicely on the front seat...
dont look foward to when the little man is a bit older and in a child seat in the back though!!

I guess a Clio 182 would be fairly practical but a 5 door Meg 225 would definitely tick all the practicality boxes and still give that turbo buzz she'd have got from the Evo.

Also you can get a Meg 225 for £12k with decent mileage on it too. :D
