Clio 182 trophy

Hi,
Dont know if this is the right place to ask, but ill try.

After reading almost every magazine rave about the 182 trophy, it occured to me that i could buy a 172 (a lot cheaper!) and just fit them trick sachs dampers with secondary oil reservoirs. Surely theyll be available as spares, and presumably theyd fit??

Anyone think or know of any reason why not??

Dunno if theyll fit 172.

Plus they cost a LOT. IIRC 172 is pretty much sorted with Eibach springs and much cheaper.

No they wont fit a 172. The 182s hubs are different.

You could always buy a 182 Cup then fit em. Their knocking around for £9k now.

Hmm, thanks for that Adamf, you guys are pretty quick!

Anyone have any idea how much these dampers are? Probably £4K seen as thats the difference between the cars new!

Well thats as far as I know. Fred and Yoz are the ones to speak to. They might be able to sort you out a better setup for less cash.

172 and fit some coilovers is another option.

H&R coilovers about 700£ plus price of the car.

If you think about it, if you pick up a 9k 182, get the dampers, fit them, your looking at what? 10k-11k maybe?

You can get a brand new trophy for £12,6-£13k. So youll have warantee, Recaro seats, speedline wheels. Works out better to get the trophy surely?

Didnt know they were going for that, aim to pay price in the mags is £14500. Plus i started this thread thinking 5.5K for 172, then 1.5k????? for dampers. Bit of a difference!!

Most people have paid between 12,6 and £13 for the trophys.
Pop to your dealer and see what hell offer you, just tell them youve seen them on autotrader for sub £13. I rang about 4 dealers, each tried to top the other by a couple of hundred quid.

There is a trophy in my local dealer for £12k afaik. It might be 2nd hand or pre reg though. Although a mk1 172 with more sounds much better on the pocket doesnt it.

You be best of speaking to Yoz, Fred and GDI. They really know their stuff.

You can just get a 172 and buy 182 suspension bit its only the hube which are different.

The tropy kit will be about £1k Id suspect.

182 cup... leave it standard... or a 172 with coilovers ... imo

Dont bother about the sachs dampers. Just get some sorted aftermarket ones unless you plan on going racing.
