Clio 182 tuning...

  '04 Clio 182
Ok, got an '04 clio 182 and was looking for advice on tuning possibilities, without going down the major engine work route yet.

I know the usual exhaust system, induction kit etc but I have been told I can take it to a fella who can chip it to 210bhp. This sounds a bit hopeful to me as the 182 is said to be less tuneable than the 172 engine.

Anyone with any ideas or even experience with these engines appreciated..

Cheers

You won't get anywhere near 210bhp from a chip ;)

You've already mentioned a couple of things with the exhaust and airfilter . You can look at getting the inlet manifold matched , plenty of posts on this topic on here . A couple of members offer this service . Apparently the inlet manifold isn't as bad on the 182's as most of the 172's so you might see less gain in the way of bhp .Still worth considering though .

For remapping Paul at Rstuning is supposed to be the man to see .

Also look at a decat for your exhaust .

After that you'll be looking at cams .

I did think the 210bhp was a bit optimistic and have a decat pipe on the way atm (due to an unbearable hole in the cat).

Will look into getting the match then and a remap to see where that leaves me....my guess being wanting more power :)

Cheers

My cammed 182 is mid 190bhp.

The best mod on mine has been coilovers.

inlet match and remap will give you a bit more midrange and 5bhp max IMO on peak power.

You won't get to 200bhp without installing some serious mods like cams or throttle bodies, I'll also need a shed load of cash.

The best improvement you can make is coilovers to your car, and performance driving instruction for yourself.

Do not tune a clio! It's not worth it, i have wasted loads of money on three of them now.;)

if you aren't worried about money get a turbo or throttle bodies.

Yea made it from rms..

Coilovers are a consideration, though maybe a couple of months down the line..

Eventually I would maybe look into throttle bodies but not at the minute, think i'll stick with the exhaust, filter and remap and see what happens from there..

People have suggested weight saving but I wondered whether stripping out the back seats would upset the weight balance, making it too biased towards the front??
