Clio 182 Vs 182 Cup

Hi, can anyone give me the ACTUAL performance stats for the 182 Cup compared to the standard 182 pls? In EVO mag they quote the Cup as 0-60 6.9 but in Autocar they quote the std 182 as 6.3 secs??

Both articles say how impressed they were with both cars which is good news, the Cup even blitzed the WRX around the track!

Search mate. This has been done to the death. Try the thread "Whats the scoop with 182s"

the cup will be slightly quicker given everything constant, however becuase the weight difference is only 20kg a difference in fuel amounts, driver weight would affect the result, i.e. if a std 182 had quarter of a tank left and the 182 cup a full tank the 182 cup would weigh more

A K-Tec stainless steel exhaust will shave off another 8kg from the 182 making it closer still; lose a stone in weight and thats another 6kg - weight difference nearly gone already! ;)

yes, its a yawn-tastic discussion - almost as boring as "Leon Cupra R v 182" or "CTR v 182".

How many times.

i just have a big sh*t before going for a drive gotta be worth a few kilos. my full fat 182 currently doesnt have the rear seats in it so adding this to my pre drive big poo regieme im bound to be quicker than the cup owners and be doing so with xenons and leather onboard ;)

Hot tip:

take the seats, carpet etc out. empty the washer bottle. Drive around with only enough fuel to get you to the next garage. Join Weight Watchers and aim for a target weight of 4 stone. That way youll get the best out of either car. Saying that, do the same for both cars and theres still a 10th of a second difference.

Autocar does its own tests, so when they get 6.3 to 60 and so on they quote that.

Id imagine that the performance difference is slim in the extreme. Personally, Id choose the Cup because I dont want a leather interior.

did anyone see the 182 cup review in autocar, were thet put it against cooper s, and scooby wrx , and golf gti, and the clio 182 beats them all:)

renault claim......

182 - 0-60 = 7.1s

182cup - 0-60 = 6.9s

if it were faster than that, renault would quote the faster figures to sell it imo.

How much do rear seats weigh?

seat bases f**k all as theyre just foam with leather covers but the seat back isnt overly light. think Roamer weighed his once

They claim slower speeds to keep the insurance groups down. Also keep in mind they are tested at curb weight. The R32 is another good example, its quoted at something like 6.6 but can do around six all day, if i remember my figures correctly

no necessarily, as it could attract a higher insurance rating etc, therefore they would sell less, and the fact that the 182 is proven to do a 6.3 sec 0-60

Is the cupped 182 available in Inferno though? The Renaultsport site would seem to suggest not - only offering Inferno for the 182Cup? Not an argument for/against either car, just a genuine question really, as I seem to remember someone on here said it was - might have been you actually 182blue :)

When the 182 first came out a lot of cup pack owners on here stuck cup stickers on their cars. I and many others bemoaned them for this, stating that there 182s were not in fact cups. I longed for the day when the real cup would be unleashed and said owners would have to remove their lil cup badges. I now feel .

Why, well.....the 182 cup is exactly the same as the 182 cup pack, give or take a dump before leaving the house and both are the same (exactly) great cars great cars and if ones to be called a cup then the other may as well.

inferno is available on the normal 182 ,the 182 cup does not have a cup only colour

That link isnt working for me dude. However, I had based my post on http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/clio182/colours.htmthis page. http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/clio182cup/colours.htm#This page though, does show the Inferno for the Cup. Worst website ever?

[EDIT]Then again, the second link also calls Inferno non-metalic...:p I was just looking at the renault uk site and you appear to be right in that the standard 182 is indeed available in Inferno. Youd think the Renault SPORT site might have got their act together? Shocking really.

There are no colours just for the Cup this time. Tomboy has a 182 with Cup packs in Inferno.

Funny...on Renault.co.uk they have renamed Racing Blue to Tempest Blue and still havent got round to changing Paddock Green for Petrol Blue. Slackers.
