Clio 197 - gear selection problem.

  Clio 197 F1
I have recently bought a Clio 197 on an '07 plate. Unfortunately it is very difficult to get in to any gear when cold, yet after a few miles and things have warmed up it is fine. Took it to a local Renault specialist who changed the gearbox oil and added a teflon based treatment, the treatment will take up to a 1000 miles before it becomes fully effective so it's a little early yet to say whether it's cured it but was just wondering if anybody else out there has had a similar problem with their 197?

Apparently, it's a common fault.

My wife's 58 plate 197 has 44k miles on it and has only started doing it in the last few weeks as the ambient temp has gone down.

Thanks for the replies. The previous owner had the car for 3 years and lived with the problem, but I just find it takes the edge off what is otherwise a great, fun to drive car.
Ali - not sure what oil they used but it was £55 for 5 litres! One of their thoughts was that it may have had some work done in the past and had the wrong viscosity of oil put in.

TL4 takes 2.1/2.2 liters of "NFJ" IIRC

On all 6 speed gearboxes there's a HOOGE yellow sticker that clearly states in multiple languages that these gearboxes are "NOT fill to overflow". In past experience of seeing NDx/PKx/TLx boxes over filled they tend to spew it out of the breather though so keep an eye on your floor/undertray for signs.
