clio 2litre 16v starting problem

hi , i have a 2ltre 16v sport
when i turn key starter just clicks, new battery, starter turns off car, bump starts ok.
when trying to start ignition lights sometimes stay on after key removed.
immob seems ok, any ideas?
car is year 2000 , x reg

Mine done this last week! Gearbox earth was shagged

all this seemed to happen after i washed it, is there a relay in engine bay that could cause this?

mate your problem sound just like what i had and i changed everything..but check your negitive batt earth... do you have a ph1 or ph2?? also hows your fuel button looking( big red on near batt) if that happens give that a push once i found that worked too... but earths are a good place to start, and cleaning relays before you start spending.....
