is that the dodgy one on ebay, looks weird the front wheels seem too far foward. make sure you have rac man come and inspect it, and also make him pay for the rac inspection

No have you seen a cat D not all are sound easy repair, yes you get your bargains like stolen recovered light body damage.
but i have seem some that IMO should be a cat C...
and then again i have also seen some cat C's with only light damage that should IMO be cat D
all depends and the valuers mind at the time and also whether or not the repair place can be arsed fix it..if they cant they just over price it so then the poor car lets catagerised quite often than not in the wrong catagory.
go and view it, a tip to see if it has been jigged, check the front re-enforcement bars, inner wing chassis members, if you can see a chequered area thats where the jig has been attached.
if you are worried about the front wheels and subframe, ask to take it to a 4 wheel alignment garage and it will be very obvious if it isnt straight etc..

i would go and look with someone who knows what they are looking for if you dont.
the categorys go on a percentage of the cost to repair. so if the car was damaged when it was new it could have sustained higher damage and still been a cat-d than when it was 3 years old. Best to find out when it was written off for this reason.

A jig is a measuring tool, a dozer is what does the pulling. The jig I use just uses 4 sill clamps so what you say would not apply. It doesn't neccessarily mean he will see chequered areas on parts of the car. Whats wrong with wrapping a chain around a member? Shouldn't leave much of a mark with a tug, especially if it has been re-painted/stone chipped.
Just use your eyes and fingers for gaps and what not mate. If something is obvious and not lining up then stay away as it shows a poor repair. Might be worth getting it tracked up if theres concerns whether any suspension is bent.

If it's the one that floats around Halifax on a regular basis, yes he does thrash it, seen him on more than one occasion go at it against some of the local boy racers in the smaller cars and tbh, heard him crunch the gears in it too
Hope you didn't buy Faxo it as it's not the best kept cup tbh
