ktec is a bit far from me, im in london, and to drag that v6 body up to them is a mission, any one do anything nearer to home? ive seen turbo conversions is that worth the bother?

  RenaultSport 197
Dont bother with turbo conversions*. Either treck down to K-Tec or stick with your original engine. What engine do you have in it anyway?

(*for the same price as a new turbo and to get it installed you can buy a low mileage 182 engine..)

i have a measly 1.2 diet 8v over revin engine which at times makes walkin fun, so im gettin kinda desprate. and to travel to Ktec will take me a couple of days doin just about 60 on the motorway.

  Punto/Clio GTT
someone on here did the vag conversion, it was running in the 11's 1/4 mile and had over 400bhp i think.

the car was being sold for 5k was it? (anyone confirm)

the cheaper option is obviously the 172 engine conversion, but if you want power, go vag 1.8t

cos its the cheapest and i did it wen i was yung and foolish..but now need more power and have cheaper insuarance...

does any1 kno of a company that would do a VAG conversion?

  fiesta turbo/Golf 1.8t
Depends how far you want to travel? but MJS in Ipswich are only a trip up the A12 from you.

They did some excellent work on our 1.4 cinq turbo a few years back. And they have done alot of feature cars to -

Rear engined mk4 escort
Twin engined escort pick up
Rear engined 106
etc

They were doing a rear engined yaris when i was last there.

Matt Black had the 1.8T and when tuned significantly it wasnt the best chassis for it due I think to driveshaft lengths being uneven and basically twisting the car. But thats when pushing 400brake with loads of torque etc.

a 2.0 16v clio engine will be a much more straight forward conversion, we all know it fits.

Matt Black can supply the 2.0 16v Clio engines too, check out: http://www.renault-spare-parts.com/ thats who Matt works for, nowhere near London though.

i think your looking at at least 4-5k for a 172 engine conversion done properly??

personally i would sell it and buy a sport . insurance is stupid high on hybrids anyway

and no offence to you but even the best replicas look shite so id save your money Or get something fast from the word go

no ive seen replicas, and this 1 ive done looks the biz mate.
ive spent quite a bit and jus wanna look at how much more i need to spend to get it into a decent speed... not lookin to race round the streets of london just for summink to do over 100mph

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
i cant see it being worth the bother tbh, ull never make you're money back on it.

like you said, you did the bodykit when u were young and foolish, so why not cut ur losses now?

stop throwing money at a doomed project and just sell it and get a proper sport, which will hold its value better.

just my 2 penneth anyway.

if teh price of a conversion is right than il do 1, but just gettin advice at the mo...

ive insured all the body mods, induction, supership and it costs £900 a year so how much more can a conversion be?

KAD

  Saab 9-3 2.2 tid
na not at the mo, sum lunatic rammed into the front corner, so the insuarance is gettin it done for me using real renault parts, from the dealer, but should be out within this week. but its had a ph2 conversion done

how do i put pics up?

pm mattblack if you want costs/details on the vag set-up.

also im 99% sure someone is running the vag lump in a mk1, i dunno the username though

Matt won't do the tranplant unless you have a big wedge of cash.

Yep there been a few Mk1 transplants been done.

does any1 kno of a company that would do a VAG conversion?
GDI/Yozzasport might be interested.
