clio handbrake adjustment

Im trying to adjust my handbrake and pretty sure the adjustment nut is under the car.

My handbrake looks like this I got off google images. The cables goes from 2 into one.

when i turn the bolt, the one cable keeps twisting which means the bolt isn't tightening.

Any ideas on how to do it?

What model is it? I think the ph1s where adjusted inside the car i.e. under the handbrake cover.

Hi

yes its a 1999 mk2 phs1. When i opened up the cover i saw 3 bolts which i tightened up but only made the handbrake itself less wobbly?

Have a look under the handbrake cover on the inside to see if there is an adjusting mechanism. Also you need to put it in gear to stop the car moving, but then release the handbrake before adjusting it.
