i was pretty close! jus thort the face lift models between 96 and 98 were clio 2s didint realise they were still classed as clio 1s

Which is perfectly possible. You have to remember that Mks and Phs are governed by the manufactures year which is not usally the same as Jan - Dec or the changing of number plates. The car industry doesnt evole around us. ;)
