Clio - On Board Diagnostics





Found a company that do software which runs on a Laptop and allows you to access the onboard diagnostics. Does everything that the Dealer can do.

Bet it costs loads though. If not then will get a copy and play !

The new SuperScan was developed with the latest technology for the diagnosis of onboard electronics on late model and new vehicles.







Through a simple connection between the scan tool and the vehicles diagnostic connector you will see clearly displayed on your PC screen information on stored Data Trouble Codes and Working Parameters, like Coolant Temperature, Ignition Timing and Oxygen Sensor.


NOTE: This screen shot shows Peugeot Citroen diagnosis, other makes and systems are also well covered








Parameter readings are a great help for diagnosis when fault codes alone cant pinpoint the problem.
Here you will see the working parameters of the different components of the onboard system (sensors, actuators and calculated values) with the engine running or stationary with the ignition on.



There is much more on this screen than is at first apparent. For example:



Clicking on the min or max value boxes resets them to the current value.

Imagine the following: click on the coolant temperature min and max, they will now show 91 degrees. Wiggle test the loom under the bonnet and around the ECU. any problems will be clearly shown by the min or max values. Most likely the min will show an extremely low value indicating the circuit went into a high resistance state











Holding the mouse cursor over the indicated value brings up a small flag which shows the ideal value taken from the dealers workshop manuals

For example, holding the mouse cursor over the Lambda value displayed clearly shows the value should be oscillating between 50 and 800 millivolt. You can see on this car it is incorrect (proved by min and max both showing same figure and sensor status shows cold when coolant temp shows engine hot)
Clicking on the sine wave symbol, brings up the integrated oscilloscope function

Here the Lambda shows as a flat line. Further indication that no signal is being received from the sensor



Previously (and largely unknown) dealer only options like ignition timing and mixture adjustments to basic settings on lambda controlled DIS equipped vehicles is now possible thanks to the DEC Superscan.

Theres a hell of a lot you could do with the little Renaults brain. 2 Litre, 16 valve, Variable Valve Timing. If R-Sport werent bringing out their new Group-N ECU mine would have been on the Rollers by now for some serious mapping. Looks like theyve saved me the bother. LOL
