they are cheap also if your going for a 60mm drop jsut on springs ya dampers would not last long best to get a 60mm apex kit comeswith dampers and springs and costs 275 from ktec would be lot better and handle better to
I have the 55mm springs on my Mk1 from them. Been on for a good 6 months now and still going strong. But the ride is a lot "bouncier" now because the shocks are still standard. So if you can, I'd try and get a kit. But nothing wrong with the springs imo.
A lot more expensive than buying the kit now. Specially if it fails while driving hard, could end up being fatal, so depends what you call expensive. if your not up for changing shocks, then 40mm drops prob better way.
