Clio Renaultsport 182 details

It will be launched in January and replace the current 172. T

The engine breathing, exhaust manifold and catalytic converter has been changed to increase the power output to 182hp. This has also improved both the acoustics and the performance at lower revs with the peak torque now produced at 5250rpm. The exhaust exits now in two visible central pipes following the style of the Clio V6 and Mégane Renaultsport 225. This results in a change to the boot floor and therefore the spare wheel is now replaced by puncture inflation aerosols.

New 16" Renaultsport alloy wheels follow the design from the Mégane Renaultsport 225 and are fitted with wider 205/45 Michelin Exalto 2 tyres.

The front and rear spoilers from the Cup are now available as an option at £150.

A Cup chassis option is introduced offering a wider track front and rear, a stiffer sidewall on the tyres, a lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers and new steering geometry. With this option the wheels have a wider offset and are finished in an anthracite colour. The price for this option is £200.

Inside there is new (very slightly different) leather/alcantara upholstery, a new 4x40W radio/CD, satin finish fascia inserts and silver-grey coloured seat belts.

New colours are introduced - a new non-metallic Racing Blue with optional metallic Titanium, Black Gold and Artic Blue.

The price remains at £14600. Pictures will be available this Friday.

Thanks for the information Jeremy, are the options going to be available to buy and fit to the current 172? Only picked mine up Saturday and think i would like to add those on to my 172?

  172, Tiguan

well im guessing everything apart from the exhaust and Cup chassis. If you had the money.

Great - thanks for the info!

Can you now kick my dealer up the arse and get them to:

a) Accept that Im rejecting my Cup due to an unacceptable paint finish

and

b) Offer me a fully specced 182 as a replacement

Cheers! :)

So its a Cup/172 hybrid then, but with a few more tweaks.

Would love to see the proper pics...

At least it has some obvious improvements, I was worried it would just be a way to sell the Cup at a higher price. Look at the end of line 172, were there any more features that could be added to it!! It cant have been a cheap car to produce with all the goodies it had.

Nice to see the little fella has had a new lease of life for its final year.

Id like to see what the rear light clusters look like. Roll on Fridays pictures. :D

Not really...

Its going to be a 172 in terms of spec, so still fully toyed up, but you can choose the Cup suspension & spoilers as options!

So if the tyres have increased in size to 205/45/R16 have the gears ratios been changed otherwise acceleration will be affected!!??

Those 205/45R16s are the same diameter as my 195/40R17s and they do still affect performance! Seems a pits to add 10bhp and then affect performance with tyres!

OH! and what about the weight reduction options of the cup e.i thinner glass etc is this standard or an option???

Wont make much difference...

195/45 R16 > 205/45 R17 = 1.6% difference!

Dunno, but theyve binned the spare and gone for mousse like the Cup.

It "should" be lighter than a 172 mk2 anyway...

So the concept behind the Cup is dead. As you can only get your new Clio to look like a Cup. Shame really as thats why I bought two of the things.

Oh no! I can see this post kindly offered by Jeremy may well turn into a 172/Cup/182 slanging match.

Maybe all the post should be moved to somewhere else and leave this information post locked?

We dont want Jeremy to think his good post has be ruined.

Jeremy - Does it come with the 4k rattle as standard, or will I have to pay extra for it? Also, it it meant to be a 10bhp increase on the 172 (which would mean its be about 176bhp), or is it a real 182bhp?!

Cant wait for all the "wot is fazter, the mk1, mk2, Cup, 182....." discussions

No, these are options for a start so not all of them will get this, plus its only the front splitter and larger hatch spoiler.

The wheels will still be different, they wont be mondial blue and I believe there is a minor facelift in the pipeline anyway, so will still look different!

Good plan...

Not trying to do that im just saying its a shame that the option has been lost.

I can understand why they have done it and having the more different options allows the car to be more individual, bit like the major selling point of the Capri. Like to see what it looks like now the C2 is out.

It does though! I want the acceleration but with big wheels! ;)

Anyone know what these new colours are like> Are they available already in the clio range?

Not sure that non-metallic blue will look all that good. And I wonder how close the dynamo blue is to CUP blue.

The non-metallic Blue is called Racing Blue and is similar to the colour that the Fiat Coupe 20V used to be in. Black Gold is just that, black with a gold flake in it. Titanium we all know from the original 172. Artic Blue is similar to Mondial Blue.

The wheels as standard have a 48 offset (the same as the 172). With the Cup chassis option, they are in grey and have an offset of 45.

Ther rear lights are unchanged - the only external differences are wheels and exhausts.

The car used for the advert didnt have the new wheels - the shot at the end was had the new wheels electronically added.
