Clio16v **HELP** PLEASE

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
My friend has a 93clio16v whic has been to renault many times over this problem. When the car is hot you can be driving in traffic and as you slow down to stop the car cuts out. It is just before you stop when your around 10mph-5mph. The car has 1 of the crap k&n induction kits that sits really close to the engine. Would this cause it to happen is it sucking in to much hot air causing cut out?. The car has had various sensors replaced. Why is it just cutting out. Renault say nothing is wrong with the car as it never does it when they test drive. But it happens when the car has been on the road for a bit and happens more if you are braking hard just before you push the clutch down the car cuts out.??. The car is fine when very cold But when stuck in traffic it happens alot. Any help with what this might be ??. Has anyone had this problem with other cars cutting out when engine is warm/hot. Please any advice would be great. The car also starts straight away after cutting out

funny that, my vectra started doing the same thing last week.
but i would start it up and it would go fine.

Sunday on my way back through birmingham it cut out again.
I started it fine but as soon as i dropped the revs it cut out.
It wouldn't idle at all.

I tried driving without dropping the revs just to get home but it didnt work as it was busy and i was having to brake quite regular.

I tricked it by adjusting my accelorator cable so its just slightly reving when its not being pressed down.

I was gonna try and get it on the computer today but didnt have chance.

Looks like you got a similar problem. Cant help but may be able to tommorow if i can get it on the computer.

What the hells a iscv?

the idle control valve can be tested by sqeezing the pipe just near it while idling i think.

If the revs drop... its working. I think thats right? or am i dreaming

It is such a horrible problem the car is in tip top condition and been to renault so many times but they never report any fault. They say the car is fine.

I've had the same problem with my valver too when the engine gets too hot it can cut out when I slow down and traffic lights for example, without even noticing sometimes! May just be cutting out as the engine is overheating as a safety device? Not too sure, mine does'nt do it all the time though, bit of a strange one:dapprove:

what petrol is he using? might sound crazy but mine kept cutting out all the time while using BP Ultimate, changed to Shell optimax and it runs fine....

Put my Vectra on Tech 2 This Week!
Showed a "low voltage on mass air sensor" fault.

I disconnected it, sprayed it with grease and reconnected it.
No More Fault showing.... Running sweet

Hope this helps

Got to be careful with this one....air sensor faults can lead to lots of problems

To be replaced? Can this cause the problem

Whip it off and clean it out with carb cleaner or WD40.

Had this same problem (cutting out when hot slowing or stopping) on both my old Astra and other halfs Omega, Both times it just needed the ICV cleaning. Had it recently on my megane too but that only did it when cold - again cleaning the ICV solved it.
