Clunking noise from 172 cup

When I drive at low speed around mini roundabouts or turn into junctions I often hear metalic clanking/clunking noises (best I can describe it!) coming from the front of the car.

Is this normal or is there something wrong with the suspension? I get the common squeeking/scraping noise on full lock which I understand is a nut on the suspension catching. I just want know that this isnt a sign of anything broken on the car, although it drives fine apart from this.

If it is just the strut top mount is it an issue or not? If it isn't doing any harm I'll probably just live with it

my mate had this problem he had the driveshaft replaced and had to get the gearbox changed aswell as it was making the noise....its gone now tho

i had this problem, had the driveshaft replaced still did it,turns out that the diff in the gearbox has been damaged so i needed a new gearbox

i had the "common" strut problem on mine.. Used to get the clunking noise when reversing off my drive which has a very slight curb.
Toook back to reno & was fixed.. now sorted.

it was a reno recall!! u need to remove top strut cap 21mm and lower shock enough to grind away where its rubbing!! that will sort it!

Cheers for the replies. So I take it that the reason for the occasional clunking noise is the same as that which causes the scraping noise on full lock - a problem with the strut catching
