Clutch Change on 172 cup (how long)

Clutch needs doing soon on ma car just woundering whats the genral hourly time it takes?

also is it a ass to do? and any tips along the way

there is a guide for doing it by dropping the subframe and removing the Gbox via the N/S wheel arch. Personally, I'd say 5 hours is unrealistic for a first attempt on the car.

i used to do 1.2 boxes in about 5/6 hours never done a 172 one though. but think their probably near the same

^you can have the box out in 2hours if you know what you're doing

its just a bugger bench pressing the the thing back up onto the engine that causes the time

have done a 1.2 in 2 hours before just moving the box to the side

never really timed doing a 172 i've only done one but changing the box i reckon was somewhere near 5hr

reckon i could do just a clutch must quicker though just shove the box over and fit the clutch through the gap

i changed a few 1.2 clutches with box still in the car not sure how easy or possible it is on a 172 though

yep thats what i done just chop a bit off the alignment tool and it JUST fits in the gap, ive got a few pics somewhere if you need any

i dont bother with the alignment tool i just finger tighten the bolts so it grips the plate.. then line it up with my fingers through the 3 gaps

try doing mgf clutches without taking the hydrolastic suspension out

gives you about 2 inches to change the clutch

its so tight you have to physically take the clutch out (undo the bolts with a spanner) to give you room to get the bearing out
