Coilovers wont budge on one side!!!!! help!

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT
They've been on the car a while (GAZ), and Iv just lowered one side perfectly how i want it!! go to do the other, and the fuker will hardly budge!

iv managed 2 turns in about 40mins. Something doesnt feel right, is it possible that they can become cross threaded or anything? because after the 2 turns, they will turn back another 2, and forward antother 2 pretty easily!!

I have unscrewed the allen nut BTW

very annoying!

cheers

When you fit coilovers you are supplied with a anti corrosion spray to apply to the threads of the adjusting mechanism - what i would do is clean this protection spray off with thinners and then soak the thread with a loosening agent or WD40. Then try to adjust them - if this doesnt work what i do is take them off, stick them in a vice and adjust them with force. The rear ones are easier to take off than the frt.

ok mate thanks! iv put loads of WD40 on but i didnt clean owt off first!

Wasnt sure of a bit of grit or something had gone inside the thread and is wedging it!

thing is if i look down the hole where the alen bolt goes there apears to be a bit of a build up of metal in there! iv got a bad feeling its cross threaded somehow!

fuk knows how tho!!!

my back ones were stuck for a long while

then one day i took it off - washed it with water, stuck it in a vice and used a big mallet on the c spanner and wham! it became unstuck

mind u thats the back ones which were only like £35 to replace so it wasnt such a big deal if i fooked it right up

THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF GRIT will bugger the threads up - try to reverse the thread to its original position when you started and take the job lot of and leave it to soak in a tub of petrol - hopefully no damage will have occured.

i cant wire brush in between the bottom of the coilover (that you turn) and the actual coilover tho!

might take the lot off and let it soak then!

i do think something is caught up in it!

i do want it lower than it is at the mo tho, so as long as i can get it back to normal under the point where its at at the mo it should be ok! (hopefully)
