Colour Coding Mouldings

Hey there, im looking at colour coding my bumper mouldings. I work in a bodyshop, but do not want to get it painted at work because we have a lot of work to do there and the painter will probably not have time to paint it. So im looking at painting it my self with aerosol. I'm just wondering what i should use to sand down the mouldings to make them smooth to be painted? like what grade of sandpaper. (Im colour coding side strips, front and rear bumper mouldings, spoiler, handles, mirrors) I've looked in the guides section but can't find much there.
