comp boot problem

Ok well basically my cousin was using my computor and deleted the boot sequence (dont no as to why) but now my comptor starts and screen goes blank.

Any way to fix it im stuck using my laptop for now but battery is rubbish lol.

What OS you using?

Its windows xp home edition still have all of the software for the drivers aand all the programs etc just dont no what to do i can access the advanced menu options from the loading screen at the start but couldnt find boot sequence.

Press F2/DEL on the keyboard on the first boot screen, once in the BIOS find the "Load optimzed defaults" (or similar) selection and hit return. Then select "Save and Exit" then you should be away

Use the recovery console on the XP disk. if it's your boot sector that is fucked?

ok well tried returning to defaults and still nothing and i tryed the recovery dick before but cant get the disk to kick in when or load.

To boot from the CD try hitting ESC on the first boot screen instead of F2/DEL.

Usually a boot menu will appear where you can select to boot from CD which should then take you to the Windows Console.

If not go back into the BIOS and have another look for your boot sequence settings (might be in a sub menu: "intergrated peripherals" or similar?) and make CD/DVD your 1st priorty, then the Hard Drive your 2nd

ok well got cd booted running restore no so will soon see if it works.

ok its finsihed now but now im getting a blue screen says basically shut down to prevent damage

disable or uninstall any antivirus etc check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers (run chkdsk/f to check)

now trying another backup cd i found as well.

Will it allow you to F8 on boot and load in Safe Mode?

safe mode wouldnt work earlier tryed it as well.

well i have managed to get it running again but had to wipe everything guess i have few hours of installing to do and setting up printers internet etc lol

Ok well im on it nw didnt take as long i though to get all software drivers etc back on running better than ever and installed all the usually itunes limwire microsoft office printers scanners and all again.
