LOL .... EVO are in the 9s on qtr mile and round the track then would get wasted. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE STIG DRIVING IT ROUND THE TRACK WOULDNT BE HALF WAY UP THE LEADER BOARD.

As said previously the bhp is to make up for the lack a driver skill.

can I just remind you what you were arguing about as you seem to have forgotten?

OMP strut brace, you said yeah great get one, J3ned said no don't, they flex. Not counting the fact he has tried and tested one on a FAR from stock car and found it not to work, but you doubted his technical ability, then proceeded to **** his car off... J3ned claimed it would blow the doors off any modern car, which may be a slight exaggeration, but it would blow away any production car you or I could afford... unless I’m wrong and you can afford a real supercar... but all this talk of 9 second Evo's, I mean WTF... have they got anything to do with anything? oh no, so his car wont beat a 9 second Evo with 4WD! :O a bigger engine and more money spent on it... hardly a stock car is it?

it looks truly sad the fact you’re bringing in modified Evo's with more money spent on them than a NASA project to prove a point that you have yourself forgot...

anyway, you have clearly missed the point of what a sleeper is *rolls eyes*

dont want an arguement but why is some1 with an evo on a clio forum ??

they probably like to try and feel superior, but now that the game has moved on and ickle Clio's are keeping up and going quicker they now have to drag out OTHER PEOPLE's figures to protect their marque... where's 'your' 9 second SQM self built Evo?

yet another person living in denial with no clue to what bhp/ton means *yawn*

Wrong answer.

But thanks for your sweeping generalisation of Evo owners.

Read the thread:-

Is all started when J3ned when i asked what was a professionally strut and how does it need professionally setting up.

Then he say OMP are shite and for 50 quid they make a difference, which was my point and some people agree some dont OK.

Clio cup cars are 100k - BULLSHIT

Then it was i have forgotten more then you have known about engineering. Doesnt know me - MAYBE BULLSHIT

Then is was my car will whip the floor with any prodction car on the road. BULLSHIT.

Then it was my cars faster than your car, race me race me. SO IT SHOULD WITH 350BHP - BULLSHIT

Then it you never had an EVO it was your dads - BULLSHIT

I have said facts and yes his cars not mosts cup of tea. Quite frankly the guy jumps in with a load of bollock, get the common link.

BULLSHIT.

And i dont race the car on public roads as its bloody stupid - if you want to race take it to a track - now when youve got a car that can compete come back and argue some more

dont want to seem to be fuelling the argument or trying to take sides but yes you do.. or you did mid last year i think it was when you had the 172 engine in and nitrous (ran a 13.9 second against my 106 that day).
remember having an 'interesting' drive down them country roads leaving york dragway? i can!

I know which i would rather be driving! How can you even compare a piece of precision engineering like an Evo to a DIY Clio sleeper?

I cant believe that your actually arguing a case that your clio is better?

OK so you have probably spent alot of time / money on your car, but at the end of the day it will never be more than the sum of its component parts, rather than a racing tool used by professionals.

mr kiplings slices i think

I like the lemon ones.

I love the clio tt its the perfect sleeper but I am sorry to say the Evo would slaughter it on a track.

Has anyone read the lancer register forum by the way. What a bunch of dicks!

Apparently the clio is a girls car and one of them beat a 172 in his Rover 220Gsi, lol.
I thought it was a lancer forum or is it a wanabee lancer forum, how many of them really own one.

I have to agree with you on the MLR to some degree as well as SIDC (Subaru Impreza Drivers Club).

The way some people talk about their cars on there anyone would have thought they had the Millenium Falcon tucked away in the garage!!!!!!!

Evos and Scoobies are fantastic cars though....I did enjoy my WRX but I feel their image is in a big, big decline now as they are getting cheaper and being picked up by the wrong people.

In my opinion Subaru drivers are much worse for mouthing off.

With regard to the Rover question with the right driver most definatley in my eyes.

That is a generalization but I can see where you are coming from....I'm getting stick now of most of the Subaru owners that I used to know (laughter).

Lets be honest though, a lot of people are slagging off the evo/Subaru but I bet given half the chance (and a lottery win) they'd be trading in their clios for one of the Jap beasts.

I'm more than happy with the 172....insurance is bloody cheap and the petrol consumption is great....30+ every run!

To put it simply people who 'really know' what they are talking about dont argue on internet forums.

As for the Subaru thing, in my eyes the mentality comes from a few years back when Subarus couldnt be touched by anything. Alot of hot hatches now are getting pretty close.

Times have changed but the mentality hasnt.

Another nice quote from the MLR.

"Been out in my sons slightly modded 172 and having owned a slighly modded mk2 astra 16valve I would pick the latter make of that as you will."

I will tell you what I make of it, you know nothing about cars. Granted the astra was a quick car, I have driven one by the way, but to compare it to a 172 your having a laugh. Does the word handling mean anything to you.

I had a moment of madness recently and considered an Evo, so I checked out MLR. It's no better than on here, they argue just as much, and **** off the lower models. lol

Well I owned the WRX for a couple of years so learned a lot about them mechanically.

Have to agree again though...I did think towards the end of my Subaru ownership that the car was slightly overrated....TBH now if I had the money I'd say f**k it and go down the nearest Porsche garage:)

An opinion is only worth as much as the person giving it. Why does it matter to you? I wouldnt get too concerned

Me too - I very nearly went for an 8 before deciding on the trophy, its just easier to live with. Though i would never have a bad word said against Evo's in my opinion they are one of the most perfectly engineered vehicles within reach of most people today.

For me i love the cup cheep as chips too run and great fun everytime you drive it / track it. Even having lot of nice cars the clio is the best car "bang for the buck"....

Missus wants another EVO or a 911 but she doesnt pay the Trackday bills....like most things im sure i will give in soon....
